INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Hack the Gap.

Hack the Gap was created with one goal: expand access to technology and innovation across California. Great ideas are not limited to traditional tech hubs—and neither are the people building them.

This hackathon invites students to create meaningful solutions, explore emerging technologies, collaborate across communities, and demonstrate that innovation can happen anywhere.

Whether you're attending your first hackathon or your tenth, this event is designed to be accessible, collaborative, and impact-driven.

Tagline: Innovation shouldn’t depend on location.

INSPIRATION

California is home to one of the largest technology ecosystems in the world—yet opportunity, mentorship, and exposure remain unevenly distributed.

Hack the Gap exists to help close that gap by creating a space where students from all communities can learn, build, and innovate together.

Talent exists everywhere. Opportunity should too.
